Computer Tips #1

Good afternoon! This posting has the following instructions on how to:

  • How to change default email settings and other misc. settings with internet explorer
  • How to change default email settings in Outlook Express
  • How to change application programs associations
How to change default email settings and other misc. settings with internet explorer

1. Login into “internet explorer” – go to – tools -->options on the taskbar



2. Go to the “programs” tab – choose your options to your liking!



How to change default email settings in Outlook Express

1. Open Outlook Express. Go to "Tools" on the main navigational menu and click "Options."



2. Select the "General" tab on the Options dialog box. Go down to the bottom of the General options tab to the "Default Messaging Programs" section.


3. There are two options available. The top text should read, "This application is NOT the default Mail handler." UN-CLICK the "Make Default" button located next to the text.
4. Select the "OK" button on the main Options dialog box and close it.

How to change application programs associations

1. Go to – start --> control panel. Once in control panel go to “folder options” double click on it.

2. Go to “file types” – look for the extension you want to change the association of, highlight it and then choose “change”.



3. Then choose from the list of programs available on the program list. Once chosen, click “ok”. You are done!
